MY JOURNEY
A few years ago, it seemed like I was allergic to everything. With over 30 different food allergies, chemical sensitivities, and intolerances to medicine, I was sick, miserable and (at 90 pounds) nearly non-functional. I was anaphylactic to gluten, and all I seemed to be able to get into my stomach were gluten free french fries, mashed potatoes, corn or chicken nuggets.... on a good day.
In 2015, I had had enough, and I told God I was over it. I was surprised when He responded by telling me it would be the summer of my healing. So I did what I felt led to: I fasted and prayed, sure that I would somehow be better... Maybe someday. I didn't really expect it to work. I spent 6 months eating only non-starchy vegetables, chicken, eggs and fermented foods. People often balk when I tell them how strict my self-imposed diet was, but for me it was thrilling. Yes, sometimes there were birthdays and holidays that felt impossible; Yes, I was learning by doing, and sometimes I messed up because I didn't know something was starchy or contained sugar - and I learned a LOT; but it was worth it, and I can only begin to describe you how amazing it felt...
